CoastXP launches a second boat and new ecotourism experience in Lake Mac

Newcastle's much loved adventure touring and whale watching company, CoastXP, has been wowing us with its offshore experiences since 2018. Now, CoastXP owner Dominic May and his team are thrilled to announce the expansion of their fleet, an exciting development both for CoastXP and sustainable tourism in Lake Macquarie.

CoastXP's new vessel, Hydro, launched on the February 1st 2024, and accommodates up to 12 guests, making for a perfect complement to their 20-guest flagship boat, Atmos.

The addition of Hydro enhances their ability to provide exceptional experiences in both Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. While Atmos will continue to operate primarily from Newcastle, Hydro will be based in Lake Macquarie full-time and will allow the team to offer entirely new ecotourism activities in Lake Mac.

Right from the outset, Dom has been passionate about developing a local ecotourism business explaining,

"We take great pride in this significant milestone, both for CoastXP and for our shared vision of growing Lake Macquarie as a sustainable tourism destination."
"From ocean adventures to whale watching, nature walks, and exclusive lunch packages, we promise unmatched quality and attention to detail in our new Lake Macquarie tour options."

Departing for your offshore experiences will take place at Chalmers Street Jetty (Near Swansea RSL), and for inshore experiences your departure point is the Belmont Baths Jetty (along the Belmont foreshore). Dom does also offer the CoastXP fleet up for private charters and can cater to the needs of guests on request.

Since its initial launch, CoastXP has acquired a long list of awards, including winning the Outstanding Visitor Experience – Tourism & Hospitality category at the Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards in 2023 and being named as a finalist in the 2023 NSW Tourism Awards. They are also proud to be a Quality and Sustainable Tourism Accredited Business and licensed National Parks Eco Pass Operator, with Dom adding,

"We will continue to offer guests the opportunity to participate in our small-scale carbon offset program and continue partnering with Lake Mac schools and community groups to use those carbon credits to fund local tree planting initiatives. We're committed to delivering journeys of discovery, while protecting the amazing environments in which we operate."

The launch of Hydro also sees CoastXP collaborate with local suppliers, including Gather & Graze and 8 at Trinity, reinforcing their dedication to supporting regional businesses. They are also excited to announce their latest partnership with TINTA Belmont.

Dom and the team look forward to welcoming you on board Hydro for a fun new experience in Lake Macquarie in 2024!
