Elevate your skin health with Watt Street’s Avery Aesthetics
Described best as a destination for skin health, Avery Aesthetics on Watt Street, Newcastle launched in June 2024 by Clinical Director and Plastic Surgeon, Dr Gary Avery. The non-surgical services at Avery Aesthetics now complement and expand the offerings of Avery Reconstructive & Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, which was founded by Dr. Avery in 2017.

The concept for Avery Aesthetics has been in the works for more than eight years with Dr Avery becoming increasingly aware of the gap in local services that looked after skin health before and after surgery and for those people interested in optimising their long-term skin health without surgery.

To provide the same level of care and expertise that Avery is known for, the Avery support team expanded, along with adding two exceptional Registered Nurses, Ellen and Melissa – specialists in medical aesthetic skin health.
With over 25 years of combined experience with lasers, light treatments, and other advanced skin health therapies, they complement Dr Avery’s unique expertise with skin as a Specialist Plastic Surgeon.

Since launching, Dr Avery and the team have focused on integrating the most advanced and effective devices and treatments into the Newcastle medical aesthetic landscape. They are the only clinic in Newcastle offering;
– Sciton laser and light technology, with BBLHEROic (Broadband Light Therapy) and
– HALO laser, with these being two of the most results-driven technologies in the industry.

Avery Aesthetics offers the latest advancements in device technology, as Dr Avery explains,
“Our commitment to providing a comprehensive suite of treatments all under one roof offers an unparalleled experience for patients in the region, and this approach has allowed us to expand both our services and team while maintaining the close-knit, family-oriented atmosphere that has always defined us.”
Originally from Sydney, Dr Avery’s first degree was a Bachelor of Pharmacy, followed by his degree in medicine, graduating from the University of Sydney in Medicine in 2001.

Dr Avery decided to embark on a career in plastic and reconstructive surgery after training in the burns units of Sydney’s Concord Hospital and the Westmead Children’s Hospital. Caring for patients and families who were faced with the challenge of recovering from significant burns was a humbling introduction to the specialty and inspired him to explore it further and ultimately specialise in it.

After completing his specialist plastic surgical training, Dr Avery gained additional experience in paediatric plastic surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, and then in Sydney, managing advanced head and neck cancer and its reconstruction, as well as hand, nerve, and microsurgery, with the link between reconstructive plastic surgery and excellence in aesthetic plastic surgery well established.

Entering Avery Aesthetics’ 14 Watt Street practice, you get the sense that building the physical environment to house Avery was carefully considered.
“It was a three year process to create this space. It’s been a big project, but one we believe has been worth it in order to provide an environment for our team and patients that reflects our values, and the quality of service we strive to provide for our patients.”
The Watt Street clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, a team that offers unparalleled expertise in aesthetics, and personalised attention that ensures every patient or client’s journey is unique.
The Avery Aesthetics team works to provide the best possible outcome for each person and is committed to raising the bar for skin health as well as surgical and non-surgical aesthetics in Newcastle.

Unsure of how to start your skin journey? Dr Avery suggests,
“With so many services available we believe the best and safest way to choose what is right for you, is through a consultation with our experienced team, who can answer all your questions and discuss the services that will address your concerns, and develop an individualised treatment plan that is right for you.
“We believe in this process, both for its safety and in producing results, that we are committed to providing these in-depth consultations complimentary.
