Once October finishes up, it’s time to bring out that festive spirit, play carols all day long and deck the house out with all the bits and bobs that bring your Christmas to life. One place in particular, Habitat Living is helping locals bring an extra touch of pizzazz to Christmas this year with their almighty Christmas Collection. With pieces for the home and gifts for every member of the family, a trip to Habitat Living is a must in our books!

Keeping with the Habitat philosophy that encompasses their passion for quality design and brands and continuing with the iconic Habitat style, the Christmas Collection boasts whites, timbers, natural fibres, and lots and lots of texture.

With all these beautiful things available in-store at Habitat Living now, we thought what better time than now to chat with the founder of Habitat Living, Cassandra Anderson about all things Christmas!!

What would you LOVE take from this year’s Habitat Christmas Collection to decorate your own home?

We have a range of beautiful quality glass, feather and fairy light baubles that are just amazing. The fairy light baubles are all battery operated so no need connect 240 vaults to the tree anymore. There are also a range of small Christmas domed ornaments which are so gorgeous – they are definitely coming home with me! We always select our range to reflect the Habitat style of relaxed coastal living, think lots of whites, timber, natural fibres and texture.

From your collection, what are your top picks for Christmas gifts?

Hmm, a special Christmas decoration for your girlfriend or the schoolteachers is always a much-appreciated gift. For the someone special I think the artworks of the local beach scenes by Cheryl Cusick are hard to go past. For the man in your life, a quality outdoor pot with a plant from one of our retail friends High Swan Dive (also on Glebe Road). Candles and indoor scents are always a popular option and this year Palm Beach have released beautiful gift packs priced under $30. And finally let them choose with a Habitat Gift Voucher.

What does Christmas look like in your house? Do you go ALL out with the festive decorations?

Yes! It's time to celebrate so let's decorate! I love to go a bit crazy inside the house, decorating with all the beautiful things I have collected from the Habitat Christmas Collection over the years. We have a great casement window at the front of the house which I'm looking forward to doing something special in this season... Finally, I love when Christmas arrives as it is often the end of a very busy time for myself and our family. Phew...

Do you have a Christmas decorating tradition that you look forward to every year?

Whenever possible we get a real Christmas tree so the whole house smells like pine for weeks. I couple this with Christmas themed candles from the Glasshouse or Palm Beach ranges so the house both looks and smells like the Christmas season! I also always have a beautiful wreath for the front door; nothing says 'welcome' like a decorated entrance to a home – this year it will have an Australian Natives theme. Besides that, the fridge is always decorated with a bottle or two of nice champagne for when the friends pop in!

And finally, Christmas table settings – do you keep it the same year in year out? Or do you like putting a new swing on it every year?

Oh, I don't get a choice! My mum is the ultimate home cook and goes all out every year with the table décor! I imagine my dad is already starting to polish the silver and clean the crystal.

So head along to Habitat Living on Glebe Rd, to get your hands on some of the most beautiful Christmas homewares and gifts for this year!
