The foodie masterminds behind one of our favourite flavoursome eat-in and takeaway joints, Zeus Street Greek, continue to bring their delicious flavours of authentic Greek cuisine to Newcastle with the opening of their Beaumont Street restaurant.

The freshly renovated space quietly opened along the strip of Hamilton’s foodie haven, Beaumont Street, earlier this year. With their fresh Grecian-coloured exterior and the scents of their authentic flavours wafting onto the street, there’s a good chance you’ve already popped into the new spot.

If you’re anything like the rest of us here at HUNTERhunter (major foodies), you’ve no doubt taste-tested the goods created by Zeus Street Greek since their original brand launch back in 2014, but for those that are new to the brand, or need a refresh into what to expect, we have got you covered having taste tested and trialled all the goods on the menu ourselves!

With 11 different flavours to choose from, there’s a filling to suit all tastes and dietary requirements. Our three top picks would have to be the Tzimmy Chicken Wrap complete with chips, tzatziki, tomato, onion, parsley, and paprika; the Aegean Schnitzel with chicken schnitzel, slaw, cos, and garlic aioli; and the Vegan favourite – Pythagoras, complete with plant-based chicken, vegan mustard mayo, roasted red peppers, pickled cucumber, cos, onion, bukovo flakes.  

For those who prefer eating from a bowl, you can’t go past a build your own Spartan Bowl. Pick your protein, two sides, and your choice of dip and you’ve got yourself a delicious feast. For our personal preference, we ordered the Chicken Spartan with pita, Greek salad, and their divine spicy feta dip, and the Pork Spartan with chips, Zeus slaw, and eggplant dip.

The kitchen team are busily preparing the tender souvla meat which has been cooked to perfection on long skewers over their searing charcoal grill. Taste test their souvla with 200g of their signature meat (chicken, lamb, or pork) served with tzatziki and warm pita bread.

Known for offering a great selection of dishes for a range of dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and low-carb, the Zeus Street Greek team have even got those on a Keto diet sorted with their Keto Bowl. Choose from chicken, haloumi, or plant-based chicken with a baked cauliflower rice salad and slaw.
