Corner House Cafe

Bringing something fresh to the corner of Union & Laman Streets

Corner House Café has secured itself a little part of Newcastle and walking in for the first time it was love at first sight.

Having moved from Sydney, Sophie explained that she started opening up cafes from a young age for other people, so opening her own was something she had always envisioned.

The making of Corner House has been a family affair with her mum being the owner of Sydney Design School, one of her students travelled to Newcastle to design the space, and her brother was the one to style it.

The bright, soft interior provides a warm and welcoming space, perfect for a morning coffee and a bite to eat amongst the suburban streets of Newcastle.

Open for both breakfast and lunch, you can expect to find house-made muesli, smashed avo, roasted mushrooms, sandwiches and a soba noodle bowl with coconut chicken or salmon on the menu.

Having previously worked for Single O coffee, for Sophie choosing them was a no-brainer.

As a Cooks Hill local herself Sophie admits, "I love Welshies their coffee is the best, we never wanted to compete in terms of coffee, like we wanted great coffee, but we wanted really great food as well."
