This June, the historic town of Wollombi will transform into a foodie heaven when Wollombi Taste Festival takes over from June 1 to June 10.

Wollombi Taste Festival is a 10-day celebration of local cuisine, wine, and craft that gives you the opportunity to visit for the day or turn your trip into an extended stay.

From sunset yoga paired with gin cocktails, to mulled wine among the pear trees and a communal supper club, the lineup of events is stacked, making it the perfect way to usher in winter.

Here’s what’s on the menu.

Toast to winter

Seeing as though Wollombi Taste Festival kicks off on the first day of winter, it’s only apt to rug up, warm your hands over a fire, and tuck into all your favourite wintery treats.

Begin with Whisky Wednesday, where you can savour the flavours of Scotland (haggis, neeps and tatties, and whisky tasting included), then head to Music in the Woods at Stonehurst Cedar Creek to kick back with live tunes, a food truck feast, and mulled wine among the pear and poplar trees. That same night, cosy up at Wollombi Tavern with a hearty hamper and have a picnic by lantern light, capped off with a fireworks show.

Enjoy a traditional Sunday roast at Wollombi Kitchen, then finish off with the Smoked Extravaganza, where all your BBQ favourites will be cooked low and slow, accompanied by all the trimmings, house-made beer, vodka, and gin, and of course, line dancing.

Unwind the gourmet way

Prepping yourself for all the relaxation you can muster this June long weekend? Wollombi Taste Festival is delivering in spades.

While the fresh country air and slower pace should hopefully put you at ease, Sunset Cheese & Wine at Wollombi Kitchen will certainly help.

Need to let go of some tension? Head to Yin & Gin for a gentle, restorative yoga class followed by gin cocktails, or, book in for a hatha yoga flow and yum cha breakfast.

Nourish yourself with Bush Tea at Myrtle & Stone, featuring scones, cake, coffee, and of course, tea.

If you’re keen to utilise your long weekend for a bit of socialising, there’s plenty of lively events happening at Wollombi Taste Festival.

Start with the Progressive Dinner, which will have you waltzing through the village for hors d'oeuvres at Myrtle & Stone, dinner at Wollombi Kitchen, and dessert (plus a Dr Jurd’s tasting) at Wollombi Tavern. Elsewhere, drink local bubbles before testing out your dance moves with Bubbles & Ballroom, or enjoy a communal meal at Myrtle & Stone for Supper Club.

Finish the festival with a day at Wollombi Markets, where you can shop boutique clothes, local produce, antiques, and more.
