Cessnock cafe opens up for dinner and drinks
Arthur’s Pantry has not even been open for a year, but it has fast become a favourite in Cessnock, known for its interesting cafe food, great coffee, and friendly vibes.
Now, the cafe has launched Arthur’s After Dark, a bar and restaurant offering transforming the cafe into an elevated dining and drinking spot in the evening from Thursday to Sunday.
Owners Noah Leonard and Blake Gontier were inspired to open Arthur’s Pantry up for dinner and drinks after eating their way around Sydney’s northern beaches.
“After spending time in Manly trying out small bars and boutique restaurants, we wanted to bring something unique to our town,” Noah said.
“We love offering a casual dining experience with fine dining touches and finishes. That’s what Cessnock has been missing and why we decided to pursue this.”
You can still expect Arthur’s hallmark warm and welcoming service when you head in of an evening. As for the menu, look forward to small, medium, and large plates (perfect for all levels of hunger), wines from local and family-operated wineries, and signature cocktails.
We love the sound of the fresh burrata with garlic confit, chilli oil, and fried shallots; the seared scallops with XO sauce, chilli butter, and finger lime; and vodka rigatoni with chorizo, chilli, basil, parmesan, and chives. While the menu will be updated seasonally to account for produce availability and encourage creativity in the kitchen, there’s already been some menu highlights.
“Throughout our opening weekend both the Strawberry Bliss and Chilli Mango Marg from our signature cocktail list were a huge success! Our food menu had some crowd favourites also, such as our brisket bao buns, seared scallops, and pan-fried king prawns.
“We took inspiration from all of our favourite bars and restaurants overseas and along the east coast that we have visited throughout our travels and created a fusion menu, enjoyed by all.”
Supporting local is an important part of Arthur’s Pantry’s business ethos. That’s why you’ll find a wine list dominated by drops from Hunter Valley wineries – think Usher Tinkler’s La Volpe prosecco, Mercer Wines’ tempranillo joven, and Hart & Hunter’s Green Lane chardonnay.
Time to book yourself a table and experience the exciting new addition to Cessnock that is Arthur’s After Dark.
