What's On

Catch this play that's part magical adventure and part gritty realism | 18 May

Highway of Lost Hearts isn't your typical play. It's a wild ride through the rugged Australian outback, where red dirt landscapes meet ancient mountains, and every bend holds a secret.

Showing at Laycock Street Community Theatre on Saturday May 18, this production by the talented Mary Anne Butler takes you on a journey that's part gritty realism, part magical adventure, and all heart.

The play follows Mot and her trusty dog as they venture through the heart of Australia, searching for the heart that has been lost from her chest. She can breathe, and she has a pulse – but she feels nothing.

It's an allegory for a nation grappling with its own sense of loss, leaving audiences pondering just how far they'd go to reclaim what's missing.

Highway of Lost Hearts is a collaboration between regional talents. Bathurst's own Lingua Franca and the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre have joined forces to bring this gem to life. And with Kate Smith leading the charge and original live music by Central West icons Smith & Jones, you know you're in for a treat.
