If it’s street threads and espresso you’re looking for on the Central Coast, then The Bang in Long Jetty is where you need to go.
Not to be confused with Shadow Bang, their sister store just up the road, The Bang opened in April 2021 and is not only brought to you by the same mother-daughter team of Jade and Peta Latu, The Bang is the inspiration of Saia Latu with Jade explaining.
"Saia is my dad and he's been working in the street-wear industry for quite a while, he worked with General General Pants Co. for 10 years, along with a various other companies along the way."
“It was always his intention to open up a shop probably more so than either mum or I, and when Shadow Bang became available it was kind of meant to be and that’s what started us off.”
Whilst there are some similarities in the names, that’s where their connection ends. The Bang mostly caters to the guys stocking labels such as Afends, Billy Bones Club, Thrills and Deux to name a few,
“All the brands my dad absolutely loves, and all the bits and pieces are our little touch on the shop, like Mister Consistent cocktail mixes, the jewellery, and candles which are in both stores because they’re so popular and also to have that connection.”
For the ladies, there is a small edit of women’s wear that has a younger edge to it than sister Shadow.
“The women’s fashion we have is more of a younger generation, you're going out having fun kind of clothes, whereas as Shadow is more coastal and resort-style wear.”
In addition to the threads is the espresso with The Bang offering beans from the Blue Mountains Little Coffee Co., for those of you who like a strong blend you’ll be impressed.
What’s most to love about The Bang is the family connection,
“I’ve pretty much followed my dad at most places he’s worked at, Mum has come from a beauty industry background, but we’ve always wanted to have a family-run business, my sisters about to start working here as well. We all get along really well, no fights so far (laughs)."
