Support local creatives and makers at this pop-up arts program

The Central Coast is home to a vibrant community of artists and creatives, and Central Coast Council is spotlighting several of these talented local artists in the latest Creative Spaces program.

Toukley Village Green will provide a home for Council’s popular Gallery Container, where the Creative Spaces program will take over from September 2023 to June 2024.

During this time, three artists will spend three months each in the space, hosting workshops, exhibitions, and demonstrations.

First up is sculptor David Hough, who will showcase his work as well as create sculptural pieces throughout his residency from September 13 - November 22, 2023. The first 100 visitors will have the opportunity to get their hands dirty and try out sculptural clay play for free – guided by the very knowledgeable David, of course.

Central Coast Creatives Collective will be popping up in the Gallery Container from January 15 - March 25, 2024, bringing together a diverse range of local creatives working in different mediums like paint, photography, and water colours. Expect stacks of exciting exhibitions and workshops from artists like Andrew Leontarou, Fiona Smith, Carol Baldwin, and Zee Merven.

The final artist taking over the Gallery Container for the Creatives Spaces program in 2023-24 is Grace Agnes Art, a painter, photographer, and illustrator. Grace will be working her magic to create paintings, pet portraits, and photography, with workshops, installations, book readings, and mini art markets also happening at the space throughout her residency.

Council Director of Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith, said Council was proud to be providing such an engaging program.

“The program is now live and is vibrant and dynamic, so we encourage all community members to explore the schedule and regularly visit Creative Spaces in Toukley’s Village Green. There will also be regular updates on Love Central Coast to support the talent and creative ability of those within the community,” she said.
