You’re invited to join The 5 Lands Walk for 2024 | 22 Jun
The 5 Lands Walk connects five coastal villages, over a 10km trail along coastal beaches and headlands. Starting at MacMasters Beach, the walk passes through Copacabana, Avoca Beach, and North Avoca, and finishes at Terrigal with community festivals being held at each of the beachside villages.
The event is conducted at the time of the winter solstice each year, in line with the northern whale migration. The event aims to connect people to people and people to place, with everyone invited to participate in some or all of the activities with their families, friends, and the wider community.
The music and culture of the local indigenous community are highlighted at each land. The Message Stick is an important symbol in the traditions of the Aboriginal people and the reading of the Message is at the heart of the festival. The Message Stick travels through the five lands with the Messenger forming an important cultural connection.
Free bus transport is provided between each land, and the entertainment on the day includes art and sculpture exhibitions, bands and other performing artists, whale talks, and opening ceremony as well as kite making and flying.
