For the second year, Newcastle’s former train depot turned iconic event destination, the Station Newcastle, will play host to a unique event that will send locals into a sugary frenzy.

The Festival of Sweets & Treats will take place this May ushering in dessert lovers and sugar seekers from far and wide.

With over 4,000 people already interested in the official Facebook event, Hunter Events Group, hosts of Festival of Sweets & Treats, are eagerly anticipating a crowd of locals flocking to Newcastle to attend this year’s event.

Attendees will be presented with a feast of mouth-watering cakes, cookies, crepes, and will enjoy live entertainment making for a fun day out with family and friends.

On the list of vendors for this year’s event is THICC Cookies with its famous New York style cookies and oh-so-gooey brownies in assorted flavours, Dippin Dots Ice Cream with a nostalgic favourite, Coastal Chocolatiers, Great Australian Bake-Off contestant Jawin’s creation, Kneady Boi, with exceptionally tasty and funny fortune cookies, plus lollies, snow cones, savoury options, and loads more.

There will also be a macaroon masterclass with The Yellow Door Kitchen as well as a cake decorating competition, live music, market stalls, and kids’ activities including free face painting and balloons.

Last year’s cake competition was an absolute hit. With five very different entries to choose from, attendees voted on a winner based on neatness, originality, creativity, and degree of difficulty. Introducing a secondary professional category this year, expect to see a plethora of extraordinary new creations emerge.

“This event has sparked the interest of so many locals that makes us even more excited to be bringing a bigger and better event than last year to the city of Newcastle. With an amazing lineup of vendors, we know there will be something for everyone,” Director of Hunter Events Group, Louise said.
