For the last ten years Roy Pinder has been waking up at sparrows to bring to the locals of Lambton (and whoever else is in onto the secret) some of the
freshest most delicious sourdoughs, baguettes, bagels and pastries in town.
Handcrafted onsite Roy and the team of William's Artisan Bread & Espresso manage to pump out a whole bunch of different flavours, and, from Wednesday
to Sunday you can pick yourself up one, or a couple, of Roy’s sourdough loaves. From the Traditional to the Rye, 3 Seed Loaf and the Honey, Date and
Walnut there really is nothing better than sitting down to a fresh slice of sourdough, and Roy’s are without a doubt some of the best in Newcastle.
Chatting with Roy you quickly get the impression that this is more than just a job, it’s a passion and perhaps a slight obsession, an obsession to
produce the perfect sourdough!
So what is the perfect sourdough? Well, it’s all about the flavour and as little interference (ingredients wise) as possible. It's a complex and time
consuming process of kneading, folding and resting over a very specific time, which Roy says he is always trying to perfect. It results in a delicious
crispy crust and soft, yet dense, inner that barely needs a scrap of butter to munch down on.
In addition to the sourdough breads Roy also bakes croissants, muffins, danishes, bagels and much more with William's Artisan Bread & Espresso
becoming a hot spot for locals wanting a coffee catch up, brekky or lunch.
Selling his sourdoughs only from the Elder Street address, William's Artisan Bread & Espresso needs to become a regular drop in spot.
