What: Connection to country remains central in Aboriginal culture. Hunter Red: Re(A)d Earth presents contemporary Aboriginal artists' perspectives on this connection and acknowledges 'reading' of the earth as elements for Aboriginal people.

Reggae Got Soul | 2 June
Where: Central Bar, King Street
What: A musical trip to another time and another place with DJs spinning the best selection of vintage reggae, soul, funk, R&B, Latin, Afrobeat, disco, dancehall, dub, rocksteady and traditional ska. Free entry , 8pm- midnight and the first Saturday of every month.

Art-a-Filter | 3 June
Where: Portafilter Café, Mayfield
What: Beginning in June, Portafilter will be featuring a single artist in the café each 2 month period, each period commencing with an after-hours exhibition called Art-a-filter.

Flea By The Sea | 3 June 
Where: Newcastle Surf Life Saving Club 
What: This is the next collaboration between The Kiosk Newcastle Beachand Newcastle SLSC. A small flea market will be held inside the surfclub and will include vintage fashion, second hand books, art and more. Vegan red lentil dahl will also be available on the day for $10, but BYO bowl for $2 off and to save waste. The surf club will be selling $5 drinks.

What: Warren Miller Entertainment (WME) presents Line of Descent, the 68th snow sports film. In the year's film WME travels the globe, by land, air, and sea, exploring the ties that bind ski culture.

Dr Sketchy's Newcastle Anti Art Class | 14 June
