The largest surfing festival in the Southern Hemisphere
Ever wanted to check out the largest surfing festival in the Southern Hemisphere? Well, you don’t have to go far, Surfest will hit Newcastle’s beaches once again.
Newcastle’s prowess as a surfing hub is centred around Merewether beach, which in 2009 was named a national surfing reserve, it will host both the male and female World Surf League Qualifying Series 5000 point events.
These events will cap off over a month of high-quality surfing competition and will coincide with both “Barrelled” Food wine and Beer festival (Jefferson Park) and The Drop Festival (Empire Park).
