Get creative at home with Newcastle Art Gallery

Newcastle Art Gallery has curated a variety of online workshops for the upcoming school holidays for both the kids and adults in the household.

For the kids, there are two school holiday options to check out;

Making Faces with Cardboard

The interactive art workshop has you using materials from around your home to create your own fabulous faces. Children will learn how to cut and construct a basic face shape. Then collage other facial features to make their own unique designs.

Nature Craft

In this interactive art workshop, you will be working with the materials sourced from your garden or at the local park! Get a little adventurous and gather flowers, twigs and leaves to create your own nature craft. Children will learn how to draw little figures before decorating with blooms and foliage.

The Newcastle Art Gallery will also be hosting three free Online Adult workshops: Drawn Together with KILGOUR PRIZE finalists John Earle (Working from Observation), Rachelle Dusting (Charcoal Portraits), and Nick Fintan (Capturing a Sitter).  

Drawn Together 

Pour yourself a glass of wine and get creative alongside with Newcastle artists John Earle, Nick Fintan and Perth-based artist Rachelle Dusting. Watch as they demonstrate techniques to coax out your inner artist. In this online workshop series, the KILGOUR PRIZE 2021 finalists will show participants how to use basic art materials to explore the figurative and portraiture genre.
