Art, Design & Makers Conference
MAKE IT MADE IT Conference is a coming together of creative professionals with a passion for cultural and artistic diversity within Newcastle.
Founder, Director and Curator Brett Piva (MAKE IT- MADE IT, Onwards Studio and Pocket Design) explains that the idea of the conference is “to bring more people here and more energy to the city”.
Starting out as a humble event in a run-down Newcastle West warehouse with 40 chairs and “a shitty projector” the event has grown into a nationally recognised celebration of creative passion and education.
The conference also explores a range of alternative ways creatives can view and work in the industry. With a focus on preserving creative mental health and saying no to projects which may harm creative and cultural environments within Newcastle.
Having attracted over 60 speakers since its inception, MAKE IT MADE IT conference is spread over a week of professional talks, maker stalls, masterclasses and collaborative evenings. These evenings offer a way for the community to meet their peers and guest speakers through exhibitions, events and cultural gatherings.
Guest speakers and events are yet to be announced for 2020 so watch this space.
