Live music returns to the Civic Theatre | 7–24 Nov
Music lovers listen up… live gigs are back at Civic Theatre, launching in time for Australian Music Month this November.
Lime Cordiale kicked off the program on Friday 6 November, with a sold out performance as part of Great Southern Nights – a live music industry initiative with 1,000 COVID Safe gigs happening across Sydney and Regional NSW.
Newcastle’s iconic Civic Theatre is a key touring venue and will be hosting an eclectic series of gigs across the Theatre, Playhouse, and City Hall from 7 – 24 November.
Newcastle is a key stop on the 1000-gig Great Southern Nights initiative with three venues hosting brilliant performances, from award-winning vocalist Emma Pask who will delight as she interweaves storytelling through timeless swinging jazz standards, upbeat Latin rhythms, tender ballads, and some raucous blues.
Contemporary songsmith William Crighton will also be on stage as will chart-topper Tones and I who’s delivering a highly-anticipated gig on Thursday 24 November, featuring her global smash ‘Dance Monkey’.
For those who prefer more traditional style music, on the grand Concert Hall stage in City Hall on 25 November acclaimed soprano, Eleanor Lyons, and her conductor and pianist husband, Vladimir Fanshil will be performing an enchanting concert, featuring repertoire from La bohème and Puccini’s Omio babbuni caro.
On Saturday 5 December brilliant bass-baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes and internationally acclaimed flutist Jane Rutter will come together for a sublime concert of love and romance. Be taken to new heights with the passion of Operatic Italy to the Classica Perfection of Handel, Mozart (The Magic Flute), Donizetti, and Schubert.
Civic Bar Beats also returns every Friday evening throughout November and December. Local acts will take to the stage in Wheeler Place, showcasing their unique talents. Kick back and relax at this FREE event with a cold drink and some snacks as you enjoy tunes from local emerging artists each week.
