Civic Theatre Newcastle proudly presents Season 2022, Reignite.
Adversity often spurs creativity and, without question, 2022 will be a year for reigniting our city’s cultural spark. As we let go of the year that was and look forward with optimism, the Civic Theatre invites you to rediscover the excitement and emotion of live performance - from theatre, comedy, musicals & circus to kids shows, there is something for everyone at the Civic Theatre.
Season 2022 includes a diverse mix of genres and new offerings including both local and national touring productions. Local Novocastrian productions include Creativity, an original new work from perennial favourites, Stray Dogs Theatre Co.; Grappling from the Edge by Catapult Dance; and Airness from Knock & Run Theatre. This Season will also see the return of the Sydney and Melbourne Comedy Festivals so get ready for some laughs.
Bring the kids along to Erth's Prehistoric World or Wolfgang's Magical Musical Circus. Get your musical fix with The Sapphires by HIT Productions. Enjoy mainstage theatrical productions Jane Eyre by shake&stir theatre co. and Black Cockatoo by Ensemble Theatre.

Over the next year the Civic Theatre will continue to expand their “Beyond the Stage” program, which will offer free and low-cost event experiences for adults, families and children – including
Civic Bar Beats: a summertime series featuring live and local musicians outside the Civic Theatre Bar.
Civic Cinema: relive the Theatre's glory days watching modern classic and contemporary films; and
Live @ Lunch: musical daytime concerts at City Hall followed by a seasonal lunch prepared by our new Executive Chef (keep an eye out for details on our website and socials!).
Finally for an extra special night out, the Civic Theatre have created a new pre-show dining offer at the City Hall ahead of selected performances where you can dine only steps away from the theatre doors.
