The History Of Dance As Told By One Man In 60 Minutes

Bursting at the seams with fascinating facts, cheeky stories and dance moves to die for, Warners Bay Theatre, baramayiba, invites you to the fabulously funny and fascinating theatre production - 100 Years of the History of Dance.

100 years of the history of dance

The show follows Jacob, a schoolboy presenting a report on the topic of his own choice. Not to be extra or anything, but Jacob has decided to cover 100 Years of the History of Dance!

In his own unique way Jacob explores the lives of influential choreographers from Gene Kelly to Martha Graham demonstrating along the way their signature style. As he prepares for his presentation, Jacob ponders the difference between ‘influence’ and ‘plagiarism’ and begins to question his own legacy.

100 years of the history of dance

Development for this play began in 2017 in New York City at the Roundabout Theatre Rehearsal Studios. Here Joseph Simons and Emma Canalese worked together to bring Jacob and his obsession with dance to life.

100 Years of the History of Dance shows the audience that dance isn’t a foreign academic concept, it’s for everyone… and it feels good! Plus, the audience will get the chance to try out their own history of dance moves during the energetic audience finale!
