6. Rooftop Bars

Get your beanies, gloves and overcoats ready, it's time to go a little rogue and explore Melbourne's rooftop bar scene. The best way to catch the city after dark, even in the colder months, is to head high, and there's plenty to choose from including the newly launched HER.

The multi-level behemoth is an ode to women past and present with the building once a cigarette factory staffed by women hand-rolling cigarettes. Today what you'll find is a beautiful merging of French flavours on the ground floor, a music room on level 2, Thai-inspired street food at BKK on level 3, and cocktails on the leafy rooftop together with a whole lot of female influence across multiple fields from Music, to Design, and Hospitality.

7. Food

When it comes to dining out in Melbourne there's a really long list, so where to start?! If you're looking for a new experience then the 20-seater PARCS [scrap spelt backwards] in Little Collins St is for you. With a focus on creating a menu from ingredients sourced from a little bit of everywhere, the teams ethos is to rescue ingredients and give them a second chance. Off-cuts sourced from restaurants and not-so-perfect fruit and vegies from the markets, are washed, fermented, and matched with their minimal intervention wine list and cocktails.

Or you could take the approach of when in Rome eat like a Roman and indulge a little at one of Melbourne's most awarded restaurants. Given best in the biz titles by Good Food Guide in 2022 - Attica, Brae, Minamishima, O.My and Vue de Monde offer a truly special dining experience that will long be remembered.

8. Pastries

If we're ever required to create a 'Best of things to do in Melbourne' list, eating pastries makes it every time, as too does our favourite place to pick up a croissant, Lune. It's become a Melbourne institution despite the long lines. Melbourne is of course loaded with fabulous patisseries including the Bread Club in North Melbourne, for Japanese-inspired baked goods it's Bakemono, or for the ultimate European style bakery experience its Ned's Bake in either South Yarra, Middle Park and Armadale.
