With only eight architecturally-designed tents and a central lounge for social connection, the lodge has been intentionally crafted with a small footprint to offer a sense of exclusivity and overwhelming calm.
Each tent is perched above the lake to take in uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside and the distant Great Dividing range.
Inside, plush king-sized beds are tucked beneath a large skydome, perfectly positioned for stargazing right from the comfort of your bed. Contemporary furnishings are featured throughout by Banana Home, RJ Living, and Eadie Lifestyle to create a warm and inviting interior.
The private ensuite bathroom and compact kitchenette ensure guests are never far from convenience, while your outdoor space – including a freestanding bath overlooking the lake – invites slow mornings and serene evenings under the open sky.
The natural luxury of the site is complemented by a deeper cultural layer woven into the guest experience. One of the standout features is its unparalleled stargazing experience, set against the vast expanse of Big Sky Country. With minimal light pollution and expansive, uninterrupted views of the night sky, the region offers some of the clearest, most awe-inspiring stargazing in Australia.
For guests that would like to learn more about the stars, they may like to view the Big Sky Dreaming narration from the Gilay Lounge, a film produced exclusively for Wilderluxe guests, in which Kamilaroi storyteller, Uncle Len Waters, narrates tales of the Dreaming above. It’s an experience that invites guests not just to witness the landscape, but to understand its stories and significance.
Several times a week, Wilderluxe Lake Keepit offers a complimentary sunset drink with small bites, joined by the Wilderluxe host. Break away for dinner with a choice of options, whether it’s a pre-arranged gourmet BBQ pack for self-grilling on the Star Tent deck, venture into nearby Tamworth or Gunnedah, or book in for a hearty country meal at Carroll Gap Farmhouse – only a 5-minute drive away.
Following dinner, finish the evening with a glass of wine by the fire pit, toasting marshmallows under the stars – the perfect ending to a beautiful day in the country.
