Australia’s largest country music festival returns to Tamworth in 2023

Whether you’re a die hard country music fan, or a lover of blues, roots, honky-tonk, and Americana you’ve no doubt been or have plans to make your way to Tamworth for the Toyota Country Music Festival set to happen January 13 - 22.

Celebrating its 51st birthday in 2023, Australia’s largest country music festival will be back to its best and continues to be the only place you can see all of the biggest names in country music in the one place.

You don’t need to be a country music fan to enjoy the festival, over the 10 days Tamworth comes to life with the main street shut down to traffic, instead filled with market stalls, performers, food zones and carnival rides. Soak up the festival atmosphere and take some time out to explore Tamworth's extensive eats, drinks and local produce scene.

Music is of course the star of the show, and there is a huge line up of entertainment planned with hundreds of shows and artists popping up across Tamworth’s pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafes every day of the festival.

For those looking to really immerse themselves in the festival’s activities  there’s a bunch of events you can’t miss including; . 

Toyota FanZone Stage

A 100% free music event the Toyota FanZone Stage is where you can catch some seriously good talent as well as some super stars of the country music scene such as Lee Kernaghan or Troy Cassar-Daley. More than 150 performers will be hitting the stage over the 10 days making it the perfect place for musical discovery.

Toyota Star Maker 

One of the highlights of the festival, the Toyota Star Maker talent quest is where tomorrow’s country music superstar are unearthed,  Lee Kernaghan won the title 40 years ago! The Toyota Star Marker Talent Quest has helped launch the careers of Keith Urban, James Blundell, Beccy Cole, Samantha McClymont and it's your chance to catch some talents in the making for free!

Busking Final Concert

Catch some 400 performers on Tamworth's "Boulevard of Dreams" and throughout the CBD busking every day of the festival! Considered to be one of the biggest busking events in the world it's also one of the most anticipated events of the Country Music Festival with the Busking Final taking place is on the last day of the festival. You never know you could be watching the next Keith Urban, Kasey Chambers or Beccy Cole who all made their start on Peel Street.

Golden Guitar Awards

Mingle amongst the stars as they turn out for the industry’s night of nights. Australia’s longest running music awards event the Golden Guitar Awards are all about celebrating recording excellence in the Australian country music industry. In addition to the awards there are performances throughout the night from some of Australia’s best country music performers.

Tickets for the shows are now on sale, but before you lock it in be sure to secure your accommodation. With more than 300,000 visitors expected to converge on the town across the 10 days you’ll need to be planning ahead. There are a number of options available, including pre-pitched tents and the Riverside Camping Grounds, where you can also secure your caravan or camping site.
