Luxurious beach-front holiday home
On a recent HUNTERhunter excursion to the Great Lakes region, we had the opportunity to not only check out, but spend the night at one of the most luxurious beachfront properties lining the shores of Blueys Beach; Swell at Blueys.
Situated just 140km North of Newcastle, Blueys Beach and the surrounding areas are famous for the crowds they pull over the warmer months. With beaches, beaches and more beaches bringing some of the best surf on the East Coast, it’s no surprise why.
Sydney-based couple, Toni & Stu, purchased the property in 2016 with recent renovations on the Indonesian inspired Pavilion and final touches to the landscape finishing up in early 2019.
“Offering 180-degree Pacific Ocean vistas with verdant Blueys Head to the south and rugged Boomerang Point to the north, Swell at Blueys sits midway along a 900m stretch of white sand beach.
“Flanked by lush, bush covered hills; there’s nothing but ocean stretching to the horizon out front. Here you can watch sea eagles soar on swirling currents, dolphins and surfers playing in the rolling waves and a passing parade of whales in migration.”
You would be forgiven for believing you were situated in the hills of Hawaii. The lush hills sitting high to the west and perfect surf conditions to the east; is Blueys Beach Australia’s answer to Waikiki?
With two accommodation offerings over two levels, divided into three spaces; Pavilion, Shoreline and Horizon, and with so much to look at and take in, from those spectacular ocean views to the unique design details, we take a close look at each individual space…
The Pavilion

High ceilings, dark timbers and hillside views paired with contemporary Australian design, Indonesian homewares and hand-crafted furniture; the Pavilion is the culmination of all your Balinese villa dreams in one space.
The newest space to come to life is complete with two ensuite queen rooms with soaring burnt cedar ceilings, custom made beds, stone basins and furnished to the finest degree of quality pieces.
The indoor/outdoor living space is perfect all times of the year with a fully functional woodfire burner perfect for those cosy winter evenings, and wraparound windows to catch that afternoon Summer ocean breeze. Even the kitchen space is jaw-dropping. Complete with inbuilt BBQ and paella maker; can it get any better?
Oh - it sure does.
Walk out of the Pavilion into your own private lush oasis, complete with tropical foliage and a semi-private outdoor stone bath and shower. A soak in here will be sure to transport you deep into landscapes of Ubud.

Shoreline

Calming coastal hues and far reaching ocean views are amongst the visual appeal in Shoreline. Within close proximity to the sandy shores of Blueys Beach, the flow from the front door through to the private Swell beach walkway; shoreline offers the ultimate package of coastal living.
With two king size bedrooms dressed in a neutral palette and those same custom-made Balinese bedheads. Complete with full-kitchen, open plan dining and living space and cedar bi-fold doors that open up onto the property’s private lawn.
It's not hard to picture yourself whipping up an afternoon grazing platter and sitting back with friends watching the world go by whilst listening to the constant crash of waves against the shore.
A wooden barn door separates the Shoreline section of the property and the upstairs Horizon area. Seamlessly designed into the structure of the property, once it’s closed, it’s hard to believe there’s a whole other aspect to the property hidden behind it.
Horizon

Which brings us to Horizon. Offering up expansive vistas from the ocean front deck overlooking Blueys Beach, Horizon makes for the perfect part of the property to spot dolphins year-round and whales during their annual migration.
Horizon is also home to the properties open-plan master suite; complete with custom-made king-size bed, ensuite and furnished with luxury pieces. The first-floor space also hosts a full kitchen and a large sunroom with chic furnishings and breezy linen curtains.
