Our pick for the trip was a Volkswagen Talvor by the name of Big Bella. This big ole motorhome was so easy to manoeuvre around the park and gave us all those extra little amenities some might like when they’re out with the elements.

Once you’ve got your set-up finalised and you’re settled in, it’s time to start exploring the state park. From getting back to nature, hitting the water, or cooking up a BBQ; there’s a little bit of something for all.

Nature lovers can rejoice knowing they’ve got a whole state park within a native bush setting to explore. Keep an eye out for over 100 species of native birds who call the park home as you wander and get up early to catch the kangaroos right outside your doorstep.

Love getting on the water? Lake Glenbawn is popular for visitors (and locals alike) who are down for a bit of fishing, canoeing, boating, sailing, windsurfing, paddle-boarding and so much more. Keep an eye out for Hunter Valley SUP signs; you might be able to book some paddleboarding lessons for the whole holiday crew!

If you’d rather jump into a pool, the holiday park also features a large outdoor pool situated at the front of the park. Whether you need a kid’s playground, BBQ, a boat ramp, swimming pool, laundry, or even a tennis court; Reflections Holiday Parks Lake Glenbawn has it covered.

There might be plenty to keep you active at Lake Glenbawn, but we suggest taking some time to enjoy the view. Whether it be to watch the sunrise, sunset, or just some time in the middle of the day, there’s no debating that the view (from wherever you might be standing) is something special.

After a day of making the most of the park’s surrounds, get prepping for a magnificent feast as you take in the afternoon rays. Pick up some goodies from Hunter Belle Cheese and Pukara Estate on your way out to the park and prepare a glorious grazing board or fire up the BBQ and get cooking before catching sight of the beautiful night sky and settling in for the night.

Make the effort to get up for at least one sunrise because it’s well worth the early morning alarm. Sit and watch the world wake up around you as the kangaroos jump on through the campsite, the birds sing away their mornings and the sun makes its way into the day.
