Planning a trip to Mudgee this year?

Less than a four-hour trip from Newcastle, it’s become a popular destination for Novocastrians to visit, especially over the cooler months. It’s home to a great list of wineries, restaurants, shops, and is a hotspot for a romantic weekend getaway.

If you’re planning a trip out west to Mudgee, we’ve made it easy for you with a guide to all the best spots to eat, drink, stay, and play whilst you’re visiting.

Eat & Drink

Alby & Esthers

Located right in the heart of Mudgee’s town centre, Alby & Esthers is situated in a circa 1873 stone terrace and is packed with character and charm. The cobblestone courtyard is tucked down a little alleyway and is home to artisan coffee and an extensive brunch menu.

Gigi’s Restaurant

On-site at Mudgee’s newest boutique hotel, The Clairfield, Gigi’s boasts a stunning interior with a menu that focuses on fresh local produce. Open for breakfast seven days a week, and dinner from Wednesday through to Saturday, Gigi’s is a great spot for an elevated menu without the fuss.

Things to do

Bunnamagoo Wines

This cellar door is a 10-15 minute drive from Mudgee’s town centre, and is a personal favourite cellar door of mine. Drop by on your own accord and order a glass (or a bottle) to enjoy as you overlook the vineyards, or for those keen to sample a selection of their drops, enjoy a complimentary wine tasting.

Mudgee Makers’ Market

On the first Sunday of the month, the Mudgee Makers’ Market pops up at Robertson Park right in the centre of town, rain, hail, or shine. It’s a great spot to check out a combination of award-winning local producers.

Jila Wellness

Need a little R&R whilst visiting Mudgee? Look no further than Jila Wellness located on-site at The Clairfield. Book ahead and enjoy an elevated infrared sauna session or float therapy session.

Logan Wines

Logan Wines cellar door is about a 10-minute drive from the town centre, and is a unique spot to pull up and enjoy a cheese board and local drop whilst overlooking the rolling hills of the region. Enjoy a 45-minute seated tasting experience ($10pp) or just swing by and order a glass of wine, a bottle of wine, or a non-alcoholic cordial thanks to Hello Lovelies.
Where: 1320 Castlereagh Hwy

Lowe Family Wine Co

One of Mudgee’s most spectacular sites is none other than Lowe Family Wine Co. Not just a cellar door, the property also boasts hampers available for on-site picnicking, modern Australian cuisine at The Zin House, organic farm and gardens, and is popular for weddings.
