Old-school, chic and sophisticated, yet modern and quirky all at the same time
Truly the Anchor, to Newcastle's beautifully Restored Station...See our handpicked guides to Newcastle
BY ANNABEL ROBINSON
Nestled in the entrance of what used to be the old Newcastle Train Station, although hopefully now more recognised as ‘The Station’...entrepreneur and ideas-girl, Karla Cowper has created a new space for all locals to enjoy.
Karla’s creativity first sparked across Newcastle when she evoked our favourite local pop-up markets such as Hunt & Gather, Street Feast, and Sunset Gather. With the re-opening of The Station, she wanted to be a part of the new stage of revitalising Newcastle. Her concept store offers something truly special with a collection of bespoke handcrafted treasures, jewellery, homewares, floral arrangements in store.
The space is a combination of old-school, chic and sophisticated, yet modern and quirky all at the same time. The store is strategically filled with native floral arrangements, candles, homewares, sweet treats and unique ornaments providing a beautiful shopping experience.
The well thought-out and curated space transports you back into the Victorian period by incorporating such detail to the styling and theme of the building
as a whole. The restored verandah on Scott Street paired with the grand entry glass doors lures you in to explore the quaint space.
The store promotes local, Australian brands by being a pipeline for up-and-coming entrepreneurs just like herself. Local designers featured in the store include; Dazed but Amazed- hand dyed linens, Made By A.- handcrafted jewellery and Leiluca Ceramics- ceramic homewares.
As the space opens onto the former train platforms, it will be the entry point on market days connecting Novocastrians with the retail experience of both The Victoria and Hunt & Gather and Sunset Gather markets.
