Following a successful first year where more than 24 people applied for the scholarship, the first year's winner, Julia Jay, has been incredible. Since
joining, Julia has been holding regular drawing workshops at The Roost, has joined The Roost board of directors and even took over their social media
account for a period of time.
On 15 November Julia will be hosting her very own exhibition at Between The Lines in Tighes Hill and a second event at the Lass on 30 November. Check out
some of Julia's incredible work here
To all creatives interested in applying there are a couple of things to know, first being the key dates;
6 November: launch
13 December: close
20 December: announcement of winner
To be eligible to apply you must be based within 60km of the Newcastle CBD and 18+ as of 1 January 2020. Whilst The Roost is a large co-working space it
doesn't allow for large workspaces, deskspace will be provided that would be suited to graphic designers, writers, animators etc. The space could instead
be used for the administration side of your business if a maker space has already been arranged.
