A good book & traditional lever coffee on Hunter Street
A good book, a flavoursome cup of coffee and a quiet corner can be all that one needs to re-charge. On any given day of the week you can find all three at The Press Book House.
Owners Ivy and Murrie have merged their passions for books and coffee to craft a sanctuary for literary and coffee aficionados. The floor to ceiling bookshelves hold a gamut of reading material and offer a snippet of insight into Ivy's past life in the second-hand book trade. With the space already hosting several book launches, Ivy would like to extend this to the poetry crowd, a scene not unfamiliar to Ivy who, in 2007, was awarded Australian Young Poet of the year.
Of course it's not all about the books. Murrie's love of the bean can be vouched for by the long list of regulars arriving for their daily fix.
The recent purchase of the lever-operated coffee machine has been appreciated by their customers, as it produces a smoother, more authentic coffee bean flavour.
The Press Book House is unexpected to say the least; unexpected in location, unexpected in its flavour and unexpected in the warmth and cosiness you experience on arrival. Whether you're looking for a good book or a quality cup of coffee, or just a really chilled out space to relax, Hunter Hunter recommends The Press Book House is the place to go.
