Grab & go wholesome food
Dietitian designed meals for busy everyday peopleSee our handpicked guides to Newcastle
The Natural Kitchen started one year ago, opening its first store at Salamander Bay, and more recently its second store in Hunter Street just east of the Mall.
Behind the business is Nat and Tim who had the idea after living in the UK and noticed a thriving grab-and-go food market.
"After a long day at work we would often find ourselves stopping by a supermarket for a healthy grab-and-go salad which we would couple with some protein,
like salmon. We loved the ease of getting quick, healthy, ready-made food,” says Natalie.
Natalie is a certified dietitian and explains that all their meals have no additives or preservatives and are mostly made up of vegetarian meals, with all protein options sold separately.
Selling both lunch and dinner options, Tim explains that breakfast is currently in the works. The Natural Kitchen is all about the convenience of eating
fresh and healthy meals, with all packaging able to go straight in the oven or microwave if needed when you get home.
Among the current popular menu items are the Mexican bean bowl and the Asian noodle bowl. Healthy snacks and treats are also available including choc rough bites, which look and taste similar to chocolate spiders…so good!
And what's amazing food without a good coffee? These guys are the only ones in the Newcastle region pouring Dukes Coffee from Melbourne, which we reckon is on point.
Catering for all different dietary needs, you can also find The Natural Kitchen fridge at the Post Office at UoN Callaghan Campus, it's full of great grab and go options.
