It’s been just over two weeks since The Bavarian opened its doors in Charlestown Square’s South Piazza, and we just HAD to sit down see what all the fuss was about.
“The Bavarian Charlestown has been in the works for more than two years. We really liked that market, and Charlestown Square Shopping Centre, in particular, and were waiting for the right site to become available,” Thomas Pash, Rockpool Dining Group CEO tells us.
The family-friendly menu offers something for everyone, including traditional Bavarian favourites as well as lighter bites including chicken wings, spicy squid and build-your-own salads.
“Our Bavarian heritage is evident across all facets of the restaurant: from the décor, including stone walls, alpine timber finishes, communal and beer barrel tables; to the food, such as our legendary crispy pork knuckle, crackling pork belly, classic German sausages, and a great range of schnitzels; and imported German beers Löwenbräu, Franziskaner, Stiegl, Spaten and Hofbräu.”
Get around their loaded schnitzels that are smothered, covered and loaded with toppings creating quirky fusions of some of the world’s favourite dishes.
If you’re down for a challenge, order The Schnitzelmeister ($80) – a six-stack, chicken schnitzel tower topped with Napoli sauce, ham and cheese
and served with four sides – if you finish it in under an hour, it's free!
The food menu is complemented by 17 beers on tap, including imported Bavarian favourites plus an iconic range of Australian and international craft.
The Bavarian Charlestown is a contemporary, casual restaurant with design features that reflect its Bavarian heritage, including stone walls, alpine finishes, and large, communal wood tables.
“It’s a modern interpretation of the Bavarian theme with an easy-going, fresh look and feel, and [there is] something for everyone on the menu.”
Signature features include a custom-designed vintage beer barrel wall, bespoke signage and an impressive beer stein chandelier holding over 500 1-litre glass steins suspended above the bar. Green plants, hanging baskets and ivy garlands adorn the interior, adding a splash of colour and fresh feel, while dark, aluminium planter boxes and bare brick walls add an urban edge.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be here in Charlestown and are looking forward to getting to know the local community.”
Round-up your friends and family and get in to enjoy a true taste of The Bavarian hospitality.
