Staying In

Take part in the power of art and join this new online project.

Let’s come together in artmaking and share what we think, feel and see.

Give your kids creative licence to get artistic these school holidays! Here is an opportunity for kids to relax and express how they’re feeling.

The Art Gallery of New South Wales is encouraging our kids to put brushes to canvas, pencil to paper or even create something 3D and enter their online exhibition. The Together In Art Kids online art project is a collaboration between The Art Gallery of NSW and media partner the ABC, designed to inspire and support children isolated from their friends and community during COVID-19.

Australian artist Del Kathryn Barton wants to see your world!

"Hello everyone! I’m Del Kathryn Barton and I’m excited to invite you to create some art for Together In Art Kids.

This is a challenging time for all of us. COVID-19 is changing the world we live in. Your voices matter now more than ever.

You are the future custodians of our beautiful planet!
Right now, we may be physically separated. But let’s connect to our bodies and adventure into the potential of our inner worlds.
I think about these things all the time when I make my paintings. Here’s one to get you started…
The painting I’m sharing with you is my vision of an inner world. When I was making it, I was thinking about the connections between people, creatures, and the glorious, life-giving planet that sustains us.

We all have our inner worlds and it’s time to share yours!
Using materials you have at home, make and share your own inner world with me. What you use is up to you.
Be imaginative, inspiring and adventurous. I can’t wait to see what you make!"

So, look around the house, find some materials to create your artwork, and get started! Once you're finished, take a photo and submit your artwork.

Entries are open to kids aged from 5 to 12 years. Artworks can be submitted until the 30th April 2020, 5pm (AWST).

Check out the entry guidelines and submit your artworks here.

A curated selection of artworks from this project will be exhibited on the Together In Art website from 18th May 2020.
