Have dinner with Sydney Seafood School at Home this Friday night.
What’s on the menu this Friday night?
The team at Sydney Seafood School, who are usually set up out of the iconic Sydney Fish Market, are bringing their inspiring Friday night dinners to Newcastle. Not wanting to let lockdown get in the way of their mission to inspire everyone to eat well together, Newcastle residents can now also join in on the fun thanks to a distribution arrangement with Sydney Fresh Seafood inside Harris Farm Cooks Hill.
So what is [email protected]? It's a ‘virtual cooking class’ kit that comes with the following;
- Instructional video
- Complete kit of fresh ingredients and
- Step-by-step instructions for you to follow in your own kitchen.
- A recipe from either one of Sydney's leading chefs or the School’s collection of deliciously different favourites
- Fresh Australian seafood from the Sydney Fish Market and
- Top quality fruit and veg and premium pantry items.
Launched at the end of March when the School suspended face-to-face classes, the initial offering was a fragrant Moroccan seafood and vegetable tagine with simple chermoula paste and spiced couscous. There’s been sweet & sour barramundi from Mark Jensen, chef/co-owner of Sydney’s most popular Vietnamese restaurant, Red Lantern, followed by the Seafood School’s most popular class, Singapore Chilli Crab, and last week’s prawn and zucchini risotto from Alessandro Pavoni of Ormeggio at the Spit received rave reviews
It was the best risotto that I have ever eaten! And I cooked it myself at home! Thanks to the top quality ingredients in the [email protected] kit for such an amazing meal! After ordering and paying online, picking up the kits from Harris Farm Markets in Cooks Hill is a quick and easy process. Everything you need is included and is definitely top quality, especially the seafood. You can watch the recipe being prepared online before you start and the included instructions are detailed and easy to follow. So far, we have had a salsa pack with swordfish and scallops and a prawn and zucchini risotto. I can’t wait for this Friday night’s fish taco pack. - Sue Hones
Seafood School manager Roberta Muir predicts next week’s Black Pepper Crab (for Friday 29 May) will be the most popular kit so far.
Roberta and her team have been overwhelmed by the response: “It’s been really heart-warming, people have ordered multiple kits for friends and family and held Zoom dinner parties, others are ordering each week for their iso-date-nights and lots of people are sending kits to loved ones in self-isolation. I love how innovative people are being.”
“Now we’re particularly excited to be able to reach people outside Sydney, in the Newcastle/Hunter region, Southern Highlands and Central West, thanks to our alliance with Sydney Fresh Seafood.”
There’s a new recipe each week, kits are $45, feed 2 people generously and are available on Fridays for collection from Sydney Fish Market or at Harris Farm on Darby St. There’s also a 4-week loyalty package offer released each Friday for those who don’t want to have to think about Friday dinners for the next month.
