There is a strong presence of Chinese restaurants in Newcastle and Eight Buns is now at the front and centre of restaurants to dine at if you’re craving an easy, flavour packed meal. Owners Tina and Runqing have taken over Sinofood Chinese Restaurant in Hamilton, to serve you a modern twist on traditional Chinese food.

The once dark red features of Sinofood have been swapped for a brighter, minimalistic interior, inviting you to come in and try each dish on the menu.

With Runqing in the kitchen and Tina out the front, customers are in for a treat with not only outstanding traditional Chinese food but exceptionally good service.

Eight Buns is quickly building a reputation for themselves for one of the best dumpling places in Newcastle. With a long list of buns and dumplings to choose from, you really are spoilt for choice. Add a little colour to your plate with the Eight Buns iconic seven colour mini pork buns. 

Tina emphasised the importance of freshness for their dumplings. You won’t find frozen dumplings here, only handmade buns made fresh every morning!

Plus there are plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans on the menu. As a vegan myself, I would suggest the Shanghai Stir-Fried Noodles or Steamed Vegetable Dumplings.

With a menu that allows you to tick off the dishes you desire, this dining experience is a walk in the park for newbies to the dumpling game.

And if you’re after a drink to sip on as you feast, the restaurant has a selection of organic local wines from the Hunter Valley. They chose organic wines to be paired with their dishes, so it goes hand in hand with the restaurant's theme of fresh, non-msg ingredients.
