Owners and self-proclaimed rum enthusiasts, Byron and Prudence are the team responsible for creating this tropical getaway right in the centre of the city. Growing up on the Central Coast, the pair calls Newcastle home with Blue Kahunas being their new baby.
Originating back in the 1930’s, Tiki Bars came about with the husband and wife architectural design team, Clif and Lou Sawyer. Specialising in Tiki bars across the United States. Ernest aka don the beach Comber sailed around the Pacific Ocean coming back to Hollywood inspired, and open the first event Tiki bar.
Tiki Bars have recently sprung back into the social scene across the globe, and thanks to Byron and Prudence, even Newcastle is lucky enough to get a taste of the Tiki!
Decked out from head to toe in all of the best Tiki culture décor; cane chairs, bamboo furniture, and leis. Even the staff are wearing tropical t-shirts!
Expect the unexpected with cocktails served in pineapples, mini barrels or in a miniature Tiki.
This tropical paradise is an oasis and a form of escapism from your normal Mon-Fri, 9-5. The music, food, drinks, and ambiance will transport you to that sunny tropical holiday you haven’t had the chance to get to yet, without even having to set foot on the tarmac.
Byron and Prudence are incredibly excited to showcase the venue and share what they’ve been working on with all of Newcastle. With so much to offer, Blue Kahunas should be high on your ‘to visit’ list.
