Bella Italia

An authentic Italian restaurant in Newcastle

Authentic Italian Eats have arrived in the heart of Newcastle, and we can guarantee you will not be disappointed

Listen up Italian food lovers, there’s a new joint in town and trust us, you don’t want to miss this one.

Authentic Italian Restaurant, Bella Italia has recently opened right in the heart of Newcastle on Hunter Street, delivering all of the best flavours of Italy right to our doorstep.

The duo behind the restaurant is front of house mastermind Andrea Dazzi and head chef Nico Gentile. The pair's passion for all things Italian has seeped through from the interior, the menu and even the wine list.

“We take pride in bringing our family food traditions from Italy to our friends half a world away right here in Newcastle,” the guys told us.

Andrea, hailing from Northern Italy in Sicily, has worked managing popular restaurants across both Italy and here in Sydney prior to coming to Newcastle. Nico is from the beautiful Lago di Como where he trained professionally in pastry and baking. Eventually starting his own business in Milan before he came to Aus and retrained as a pizza chef and head chef.

Heading along to Bella Italia isn’t just a meal out, it’s a whole experience! Walk through the doors and you’ll be instantly transformed to a little Italy. From the exposed brick walls, the scent of freshly baked pizzas to the friendly nature of the staff; you’ll be skipping out saying, Bellissimo!

The menu itself is jam-packed with all of your favourite Italian meals. Start with Arancini al ragu (bread crumbed risotto balls, stuffed with ragu Bolognese and fried served with napolitana sauce) and share the Tagliere Italiano (Italian cured meats, cheeses and served with olives and bread).

For mains you can choose from over 20 pizza toppings, house-made gnocchi (gnocchi alla boscaiola), or even the tastiest pork belly in Newcastle (Lella Porchetta). You name it, these guys have it on the menu.

“You can taste the pride and tradition of our families and homeland in every bite taken at Bella Italia.”

I can’t forget to mention that Bella Italia has one of the most extensive Vegan menus in Newcastle, so tell your vegan friends they won’t be missing out on Italian deliciousness here!

With dedicated entrée, main and dessert menus all catering for vegans; why would you not book a table?

If you’re the sort of smart person who just HAS to order dessert every time you’re out for dinner, do yourself a favour and order the Tiramisu. This is no typical Tiramisu, and Nico’s secret recipe will not disappoint.

If you’re thinking about a visit to Newcastle’s newest Italian spot, make sure to book ahead as since opening, they’ve been continuously booked out! So, get in early and secure a seat at my new personal fav Italian restaurant.
