Kingsley, a Crystalbrook Collection Hotel will bring a new level of luxury to Newcastle’s when the city's first five-star hotel opens in April 2021. Located opposite Civic Park, Kingsley will transform the city’s former Council Administration Centre into an elegant and sophisticated 130 room luxury hotel.

Kingsley will sit proudly in walking distance from the City Hall, Civic Theatre, Newcastle Art Gallery and War Memorial to continue Crystalbrook Collection’s proud stance on developing hotels that create cultural connections to the communities in which they reside, celebrating what has been and what is to come.

On addressing the upcoming hotel in relation to Newcastle’s cityscape, Interim CEO and Group Director, Geoff York said, “We are so pleased to unveil the interiors for Kingsley. The hotel celebrates Newcastle’s rich history while looking forward to what the emerging city has to offer. We are honoured to now be a part of Newcastle’s cultural landscape.”

Respecting the brutalist 1970’s architecture of the original façade of the iconic building, the redevelopment is being led be EJE Architecture, celebrating the history of the building within Newcastle’s ever-changing architectural landscape. Kingsley’s interiors, designed by Suede Interior Design, make careful use of the building’s curves and celebrate the rhythm and distinctive layered, textured exterior. The design is accompanied by a colour palette that pays tribute to the regions significant coal mining history.

Kingsley’s rooftop restaurant and bar will boast exclusive panoramic views across the city as the design draws inspiration from the Hunter Valley’s iconic olive groves. Olive trees create a canopy of natural shade during the day and present a stark contrast against the inner city life at night. The glass ceiling, as well as the olive and charcoal colour palette, not only tie together the overall design but exemplify The Kingsley’s championing of Newcastle’s unique heritage.

The hotel’s communal spaces will further exhibit an intimate and exclusive atmosphere and each function to accommodate the existing structure of the building. Guest rooms are spacious and offer a unique design due to the natural flair of the building.
