With a fully equipped kitchen, living space, 2 bedrooms (with queen beds), luxe bedding, built in robes, even a custom dressing table or work nook, it's also perfect for the business visitor.

The bathroom is compact and stylish with Australian made tiles and custom blackbutt timber cabinetry and heated floors. Opening off the living area is a breezy 4m glass door with Juliette balcony, taking full advantage of those just over the hill coastal breezes.

Owners Brooke and Grant worked with EJE Architecture to create a concept for the new space which sits at the back of their existing residence.

Brooke said, “the home has been in our family for 60 years. It was my nans house, and where my father grew up and me too, visiting nan all the time. It has been a very special opportunity to keep the house in the family, make improvements without losing the character and charm of the house”.

“While renovating the main house we were developing the plans for the garage and serviced apartment with Barney Collins and Kate Chalup at EJE architecture. Considering this is a special project in a heritage conservation area, it was essential to bring the skills of EJE to the table. They assisted with fine tuning the plans and negotiating our way through council. We had a big ‘wish list’ and they made it happen.”

“The build is dual purpose, we have a garage and large office room downstairs and the apartment is completely separate. We wanted to be able to share our love of Cooks Hill, by being able to host guests and still have our own privacy. I think we have achieved this balance, the guest will be able to enjoy their own space and call on us if need be.”
