All about relaxed coffee and quality fresh food in Mayfield
If you like to get out and about to try new café and coffee spots then you're going to love HUNTERhunter's latest find, Side Pocket Espresso. Located outside the usual café soaked suburbs of Newcastle, you'll find Side Pocket Espresso tucked away in a tiny corner of Mayfield, a little unexpected but a lot to like.
After graduating from the school of Estabar, part owner and barista Amy Baldwin felt the time was right to create a place of her own, and together with partner Jaime they went about working to create their own fab little space. After some serious renovations and hard work they transformed their little corner of Mayfield into a fresh and contemporary café that not only feels inviting but offers a tasty and healthy menu.
A smart drinks menu has also been crafted, the Earl Grey Ice Tea with a hint of ginger, lemon and mint is super refreshing and perfect on a hot day, as is the breakfast smoothie filled with bananas, acai & mixed berries, coconut water and a dash of milk.
Botany Bay's Single Origin Roasters and their fruit driven blend is the bean Amy prefers to work with. Together with its unique flavour Single Origin Roasters work hard to source ethically and environmentally sound beans that are roasted on solar power, all of which keeps in theme with Side Pocket Espresso's ethos.
Overall Side Pocket Espresso is just a really chilled out place where people can pull up a crate, perch at the bar, settle in at a table or relax under the umbrella at the picnic table. Add it to your list of café drop ins this weekend.
