Shoal Bay Country Club

An ultra stylish cafe, restaurant & bar that over looks the stunning waters of Shoal Bay

After a massive $6 million refurbishment, the Shoal Bay Country Club (SBCC) has burst back onto the Port Stephens scene. For those not initiated with the club, it’s a café, bar, pub, and restaurant, and has been a stalwart in Shoal Bay since it was built back in the 1930s.

The new look for this old club is downright spectacular! It’s worth a visit just to check out the interiors. It’s coastal, but with 1950s pops of pastel colours, honey-coloured timbers and lots of cane furniture.

“We are really honoured to have taken over the iconic SBCC,” new owner Andrew Lazarus said. “We wanted to reignite this passion with the refurb and bring something fresh and exciting to the Port Stephens area whilst ensuring the hotel’s history has been preserved.”

Mermaids Café

As you enter SBCC, Mermaids Café is on your right on the ground floor. This 1950s style diner is open for breakfast daily with a big menu to pick from full of the usual favourites, along with some standouts such as the middle eastern baked eggs and the sweetcorn and bell pepper fritters.

As for the coffee, SBCC roast their own blend which is smooth and mild.

Kitchen & Upstairs Patio

Head upstairs for lunch and dinner, you’ll be blown away by the 180-degree views across the bay. The menu features wood-fired pizzas, pub grub classics, and plenty of fresh seafood options (of course). With over 80 menu items, there are heaps and heaps of options here!

Beach Bar & Cane Lounge

Heading downstairs you'll find the Beach Bar which is open until 2am daily (except Sundays) and The Cane Lounge.

So why not do a day trip up to Port Stephens and check out the very Instagram-worthy SBCC.

PS. Even the bathrooms are Instagrammable!
