Newcastle dining institution
Scotties has long been a favourite for its fresh and sustainable seafood menu and quirky events. Now we love it even more with owner Jen saying,
"We're opening the courtyard area as a bar style space, meaning you can just sit under the sun or the stars with just a glass in hand and soak up the summer seaside air."
In addition to Happy Hour the Scotties menu is now all about sharing with bite size plates of goodness using only the freshest of ingredients. The sharing style goes perfectly with their cocktail menu of Margarita's, Campari & Orange or an Aperol Spritz.
Scotties is undeniably an icon in Newcastle East, and the East End, we all have memories of hot Summer afternoons enjoying some fish 'n chips or a burger
after a swim at Newcastle Beach. Although Scotties is still etched into most Novocastrians memories as that fish n' chip shop at Newcastle Beach, it's
actually matured into much more than that.
With a chequered past dating back to around the 1950's Scotties has been a corner store, the local general store, a fish n' chip shop, and now the Scotties that we know today - a cute, cosy restaurant specialising in fish, accompanied by not only chips but your choice of Mediterranean inspired side dishes.
Scotties is owned and run by mother and son team, Jenny and Jack - who bring a beautiful, colourful and warm family atmosphere to Scotties.
Scotties is all about serving up sustainably caught fish, sourced predominately from local fisherman (where possible), their fish menu changes weekly depending on what's in season, plentiful and running at the time.
And if you can't get a seat inside the restaurant, you can always enjoy the laidback outdoor seating and enjoy your fresh fish under the stars, with a hint of sea breeze.
