Sanbah at The Junction, Drift Bikes at Kotara, and now Sanbah Grindhouse at Marketown; these guys have been busy over the last 12 months, but we certainly aren’t complaining.
Now you can skate, shop, and sip in one place!
“Rhys and Sophie have wanted to get into hospitality the entire time. Rhys’ dad has been in hospitality and he’s helped us out with this. They both also love food, and love having a good time, so I think it was a natural progression for them,” self-confessed people manager, Hana told me.
This latest project from the team opened mid-December 2018 and aims to cater to the ever growing and evolving skate scene in Newcastle. The skate park
is comprised of a 570 square metre concrete skate park, as well as a skate shop and equipment hire shop.
Offering two-hour skate sessions seven days a week, as well as private and group bookings, school sport, and even event bookings! Kid’s birthday coming up? They’ve even got a private room available for hire.
Whilst the skate park is the core of the new space, don’t let it stop you from checking out the place. With a beautifully detailed clothing store, stocked
with only the best skate and surf brands out there.
Get your hands on some Hurley, Patagonia, Adidas, Nike, Vans, Globe; you name it they’ve got it. They’ve even got some beautiful pieces for the home; cane
hanging chairs, and statement light pieces to give you an idea.
The space is complete with the addition of the Grindhouse Cafe. Serving a perfect cup of joe with Code Black Coffee Roasters as well as a huge range of
food for breakfast and lunch. With local coffee guru, Angelo Luczak in charge of the reins, you know you’re in good hands.
“Angelo is like coffee famous in Newcastle. When Rhys & Sophie approached him about their business idea, they said we want to give you free rein. Think of it as though you’re opening your own cafe.”
With sandwiches created by the ever-talented Wilderness Chef, Cooper Thomas; they sure do pack a punch when it comes to taste!
Get in and check out this place that is sure to be a Newy favourite as it encompasses all of things we’re known for. Skating, surf vibes and seriously good coffee.
