An easy hour north of Newcastle, the white sands and turquoise water rival any of the country’s iconic beaches and makes for an easy weekend holiday getaway with the kids, when you don’t want to travel too far.

Owners Lauren and Micheal Charge began the huge renovation just over two years ago, and it's been a hands-on family affair, with Lauren's brother and father of local Hunter based builders, Greenbuild Constructions, taking on the project.

Lauren's past life as a graphic designer and working in the world of advertising has given her an eye for detail with the result being an incredible transformation that we fell instantly in love with.

Located directly opposite Shoal Bay the low key but sophisticated interiors stick to a consistent palette of neutral tones, allowing for the views to be the centrepiece.

The house features three separate spaces, each designed to fit families small and large comfortably, and whilst a natural minamilst feel runs throughout, each have their own distinct style.

SALT ONE

Showcasing the properties developments from what was a rundown 1970's beach house, Salt One is now a modern and refined waterfront accommodation. The spacious kitchen and open living floorplan takes full advantage of those Shoal Bay views and offers the perfect excuse to laze around all day.

SALT TWO

Being the the largest space of the house, Salt Two is perfect for families. Sleeping up to ten people it features a large open plan kitchen, living, dining room and a separate small media room. Perfect to keep the kids occupied whilst mum and dad have some much needed R&R. 

SALT THREE

A freestanding two storey cottage, Salt Three is located at the South end of the property. Continuing the coastal vibe, the palette has been switched up a little with the self-contained space running with darker tones that give it a Hamptons kind of feel.

With so much to offer at the Bay from quality dining, coastal exploring, and even swimming with dolphins, it makes for the perfect short break escape and Salt at Shoal Bay is the most perfect place to stay.
