Hunter Hunter ask, could this be Newcastle's best coffee?
Founded 6 years ago One Penny Black in the Hunter Street Mall have forged their name in the local landscape as one of Newcastle's best coffees. They don't know why it's so good, (well not they'll tell me anyway) but I'd say it would have something to do with the team of passionate baristas behind the bar.
So what makes One Penny Black's coffee so good? Is it their passionate baristas, their BlackStar beans from Brisbane or some black magic?
OPB pride themselves on making great coffee and their loyal following would have to agree, travelling from all around Newcastle for a drop of their caffeinated goodness. They serve a rich style of coffee, with lots of body and depth a brew that is obviously favoured by Novocastrians.
After 4 years though they have out grown their humble little coffee bar on the Hunter Street mall, moving onwards and upwards to larger premises on the Hunter Street Mall, opposite the former David Jones building. These new premises give the OPB team more room to explore their passion for coffee, and to expand their coffee and food offerings.
