Founder, Director and Curator Brett Piva, also known as Pocket Design, is bringing a diverse range of artists, makers and designers from interstate and abroad to Newcastle.
The multi-day event has speakers from America, South Korea, France, New Zealand and five different states across Australia together on the one stage.
Since its humble beginnings, MAKEit MADEit has become a much loved and highly anticipated event with a sell-out attendance in 2017. This year sees the event move to the much grander and theatre seated venue at the Newcastle Conservatorium.
The MAKEit MADEit Conference now offers more seats, a larger stage, rooms for the all-new Rise Up Sessions, a bar in collaboration with Murray’s Brewing Co and much more in 2018.

This year shares a stronger learning focus with the new Rise Up Sessions for professionals and students in creative industries. During the main break of the conference, the event will share a series of panel discussions and interactive sessions.

Hosted by previous speakers and local personalities these events with discuss creative mental health, protecting your creative rights and guided discussions on personal experiences in different industries with art, design, and making.

The impressive line up that will share so much more this year includes local artist Lucas Grogan, New Zealand glass artist Katie Brown, Melbourne designer Magdalena Ksiesak, Brisbane artist Emily Devers and South Australian artist and designer Hugh Altschwager of Inkster with more to be announced soon.
Each year MAKEit MADEit Conference delivers new ways for the audience to meet their peers and guest speakers through side events and cultural gatherings. This year will host the very first VIP Dinner to welcome new and returning speakers, along with the conference's growing community.
The conference continues into the night with live music and gatherings that provide more opportunities to meet and greet guest speakers and make new friends.

This year will see an exclusive closing exhibition for ticket holders plus an after party with good people, great music and incredible beers by Murray’s Brewing Co and spiced rum cocktails by Bacardi Australia.

As the official Media Partner of MAKEit MADEit 2018 HUNTERhunter is excited to be supporting an event that not only brings some of the world's most talented creatives to Newcastle but shines a spotlight on the local creative scene.
