Discover Hamilton North's ever growing creative community
Unbeknownst to most, tucked away amongst the industrial landscape of Hamilton North is home to an ever growing creative community, known as The Creator Incubator (TCI).
Launching in 2017 in the most accidental of ways by Newcastle artist Braddon Snape, five years on and even Braddon himself is a little overcome at how much TCI has evolved.
“This is one massive warehouse and at the time I was working in a partitioned sectioned up the other end. I talked to the owner, Dave Saddington about storing the large sculpture I was working on in the yard and he said 'no don’t leave it outside put it in this shed' (what is now the Creator Incubator).”
“When I walked in my eyes lit up, it was a beautiful big space, with amazing light, great roller door access and I thought it was a great opportunity, in this climate where artists are looking to get together and collaborate and work interdisciplinary and feed off one another.
“I put the idea to Dave and he was keen, and what he gave me was the opportunity and time to develop the idea for The Creator Incubator.”
For those interested in visiting TCI what you’ll discover is a diverse group of 38 artists, designers, makers & thinkers working away on everything from industrial design, sculpture, to ceramics, painting, illustration, photography, stained glass/leadlight, bookbinding and fashion design.
