The world-renowned street art festival is coming to Newcastle | 2-4 Oct
And they’re looking for local artists to apply!
The internationally renowned street art festival contributes impressive large-scale art to cityscapes, and this October it’s making its Newcastle debut!
Presented by festival director, Becky Kiil of Newcastle Afoot and street artist Vans the Omega, the festival is looking for local emerging artists from the Greater Hunter Region to apply to paint their own mural as part of this innovative festival.
In light of the current social climate, The Big Picture Fest will be an exciting opportunity to support the arts and offer our community a well-considered and social-distancing friendly event.
“I think a core part of Newcastle’s identity is its well-established creative community. That community has had a hard time during the COVID-19 crisis. We look forward to adding to Newcastle’s creative legacy by working with exciting local talent to exceed in their endeavours and add amazing public artwork on our skyline,” Becky said.
Enlivening Newcastle’s streets, the Big Picture Fest will be sure to leave us with an enviable art trail for years to come. With the three-day festival designed to bring our creative community together to work alongside an all-star line-up of world class professional contemporary artists, with up to 12 large scale murals to be painted during the live event.
Expressions of interest from local artists can be submitted until 5pm, 24 May.
