Tailor-made for small business and offering brand new bespoke office suites with first-class amenities, Swift on Hunter pays homage to the Newcastle of yesteryear, drawing inspiration from its strong heritage connection to the textile industry, specifically the iconic A. Swift & Co, Tailors who operated at 653 Hunter Street throughout the 1930’s.

Developed by Altim Property, founder & director Ian Summers deep knowledge of the Newcastle market, and untapped potential for growth in the local area has driven this flagship development, with Swift on Hunter being a first of its kind for Newcastle.

Location

Fast emerging as a smart, innovative and sustainable city, Swift on Hunter sits at the heart of the West End, which is set to become Newcastle's new CBD, a shift that was spearheaded by the Newcastle Urban Renewal Strategy 2012.

The West End's vibrant art and cultural offering, evolving restaurant and bar scene also sits within easy access to the lively waterside playground of Honeysuckle, the perfect location for informal office meetings, client lunches and after work celebrations. Quality coffee is only steps away, as is Marketown, ideal for getting all those everyday errands taken care of.

History

The importance of retaining the buildings history was never far from mind throughout the design process, as Ian Summers explains,

"My dad grew up on Hunter Street Newcastle West, and he often shared stories of the Newcastle of yesteryear and the transformation of the CBD that he witnessed throughout his lifetime."

"In the last ten years we have seen Newcastle city undergo an urban revival which has been intertwined with Newcastle’s amazing historical architecture."

"Upon purchasing 653 Hunter Street we began researching its history and discovered it was home to an iconic Newcastle Tailor (A. Swift and Co) in the 1930s. We saw an amazing opportunity to incorporate this rich heritage into the design of the building.

"At Altim we want to create buildings that push design boundaries and Swift certainly does that with the original façade being retained and beautifully integrated with a contemporary structure."

"We worked with local architects SDA on the design of Swift and they have carried out an incredible job of creating a bespoke building that honours its past, whilst having all the new A Grade amenities that allow for a pleasant and efficient work environment."

Innovation

To stay up-to-date with the building and neighbourhood news residents will have access to the Swift on Hunter app, an enterprise-grade mobile tool, exclusive to the Swift on Hunter community. The app gives occupants the ability to easily log building maintenance requests and access amenity and services through the intuitive and intelligent software.

Ian details further, "at Altim we pride ourselves on not only meeting these expectations but surpassing them and that’s why we’ve included a wide range of features including secure car parking with number plate recognition, remote app-controlled Air Conditioning, secure AV intercom access, Premium speed broadband (Fibre to the premises) and individual NBN connection."

End of Trip Facilities

Whilst each of the Swift on Hunter suites will have allocated secure car parking, the inclusion of premium end-of-trip facilities is all about encouraging staff to have an active lifestyle.

"We have spacious end of trip facilities including shower rooms, bag storage lockers, USB ports and GPOs, fully secure bike storage rooms and generous breakout balconies on every floor. And we have amazing coffee and food onsite from the local legends at Sherwood."

Sustainability

Whilst location and price are always key drivers, sustainability and innovation are very much at the forefront of buyer’s decision-making process. Our working environment has become no different to our personal lives with people wanting to utilise the very latest technology to make their lives more efficient and enjoyable.

"We are seeing an increasing expectation from not only business owners but their staff around innovation, amenity, and sustainability. "

"Buyers want to reduce their environmental impact whilst lowering their operational costs, enhancing their corporate reputation, and ensuring the future value of their investment. Swift is targeting a 5-star NABERS^ energy rating.  Many people might not be aware that buildings use 40% of the world’s energy.   That’s why it’s important that buildings are measuring their energy use to reduce their environmental impact."
