How are you celebrating post-match with the kids?
That’s right, the winter school holidays have wrapped up and whilst that means the busy morning lunch prep and school drop-off routine has kicked in, the kids are sure to be excited that weekend sport is back.
Whilst the early mornings during the cooler months can sometimes seem like a bit of a chore, it’s the fun-filled socialising and cheers of excitement as they reach sporting milestones that make it all worth it. Whether your little ones are playing rugby, soccer, netball, or anything in between, there’s one sporting ritual we can all agree on; celebrating post-match with a sneaky treat!
So, what are the best ways to celebrate?
Long gone are the days of the happy meal, nowadays, it’s all about getting out to support local businesses whilst still celebrating all those weekend sport wins. Sitting amongst some of Newcastle’s biggest sporting ovals and courts, Junction Fair is the post-match celebration sure to put a smile on their faces. Whether you’re after a healthy treat, a sneaky gift, something sweet, or even a post-match haircut, Junction Fair has you covered.
Up first, we’d recommend checking out all of the healthy goods over at Buzz at The Junction. Whilst they might be known for their divine Acai bowls, it’s their fresh juices, smoothies, and raw treats that will be sure to keep the kids happy. There’s nothing quite like a fruity treat to quench that post-match thirst.
Following the kids’ game, it’s usually sneaking up to lunchtime and if you’ve managed to get the kids to become true sushi lovers, there’s no better option than Newcastle-born business, Sushi Koo! Get your hands on some of the delicious single rolls or order a pack of sushi. You can pull up a stool at Sushi Koo or head across the road to Rowlands Park as you take in that iconic Newcastle sunshine.
Kids in need of a haircut? Why not make it a treat and book them a spot over at Mister Cuts post-match. The parlour-styled barbershop has become a go-to for the little ones to get their hair in order with their fun vibes, old-school barber chairs, and some of the friendliest and talented barbers across town.
Lucky last, you just can't leave without something a little bit cheeky to celebrate post-match, and is there anything better than a Doughheads Doughnut? Round up the whole team and head to Doughheads for these incomparable sweet treats. They have a great range of vegan and low gluten doughnuts too!
Whether the kids have won their game, or maybe they just need a little post-match cheering up, we have no doubt they’ll be thanking you after a visit to their favourite places at Junction Fair.
Thanks to the Merewether Carlton Junior Rugby Union Under 8 superstars for taste testing all of the delights on offer at Junction Fair. All the very best for a great season!
