Kassy King is bringing her unique acrylic resin workshops to Newcastle.
Kassy King Designs’ pieces for the home include wall art, vases, bookends, and trinket dishes, bringing joy and playfulness to any space they inhabit.
Since its inception in May 2021, the colourful handmade homewares and art brand, has built a reputation for its one-off décor pieces. This is your opportunity to recreate your own acrylic resin oval trinket tray.
We caught up with the lass behind the business, Kassy, to hear all about her creative journey, how her business came to life, and of course, exactly what to expect from the upcoming workshops.

The Workshops
Get ready for an exciting creative adventure as you book your spot at an upcoming Kassy King Designs acrylic resin workshop. The two-hour workshop is designed to guide you through every step to creating your very own trinket tray.
“I wanted to bring experiences to people in the form of workshops rather than just offering physical products. An experience is an investment in yourself, and I believe everyone that can afford that, will continue to do so.
“The workshops are filled with many laughs – dad jokes are my specialty – and fun creative moments. You’ll make your very own trinket tray out of acrylic resin, in colours of your choice and you will take it home with you that day.”

“It’s designed to be a fun and supportive way to learn how to work with acrylic resin and to be able to unleash your creativity. It is a safe space where everyone of all skill sets are welcome as I guide you through the process from beginning to end. I love sharing my knowledge and I am passionate about making sure everyone feels included and like they can make their own unique trinket tray.”
Business Background
Whilst the workshops are fresh to Kassy’s offering, she’s got so much more up her sleeve. The Queensland-born now Novocastrian creative shares her earliest memories, including the very first sewing machine she received at the age of five – to make clothes for her Barbies.
“I was always creative growing up, playing a lot of different musical instruments, messing around with fashion, sewing, and even dancing.”
Her late teens and early twenties saw Kassy study fashion design at TAFE followed by a stint as a visual merchandiser. One constant throughout was her need and natural ability to create.
“Throughout the years, I have made and sold clothes, jewellery, and even digital art for a while. My brain is constantly going with new ideas.”
In May 2021, whilst studying radiography, the world of resin was brought to Kassy’s attention.
“We have to use markers when doing an X-ray to denote which side of the body we are X-raying. I wanted to make my own pink sparkling markers as the ones on offer from the University lacked personality. So, I began my deep dive into resin. I spent a day with a friend learning from them and from there I was hooked.
“Before I knew it, I had a website and I was applying for markets, buying business cards, and investing back into the business. It happened so organically that I didn’t realise I had built a successful business. Funnily, to this day I still haven’t made any X-ray markers.”
Over the past two years, Kassy and her products have popped up at local markets, like The Olive Tree and Homegrown Markets, as well as navigating the Sydney market scene.
Kassy’s comprehensive online store includes trinket dishes, bookends, coasters, catch-all cups, candle holders, vases, fruit bowls, and more. You can also browse and get your hands on a selection of Kassy King Designs at Botanica Bird, Life + Style at Lorn, and FLWR BOMB on the Central Coast.
“I’d like to take a minute to thank Newcastle. The sense of community here is like no other I have encountered, and it really keeps me going knowing I have the whole city cheering me on.”
Whether you’re keen to sign up for an upcoming Kassy King Designs workshop or are eager to get your hands on one of her premade décor pieces for your own home, Kassy’s infectious creativity and unique approach to décor is here to bring fun and colour into your life.
